About Us
In the spring of 2019, Sloatsburg Nursery officially opened for business as a full-service retail and wholesale plant, tree and garden nursery. Unofficially, it actually started selling salt and firewood in 2017, while owners Simon Davis and Derek Neretich began developing their grandiose plans for when the nursery would finally burst into “bloom”!
After many years of creating luxurious, high-end landscapes with Elemental Grounds, they felt that Rockland County needed a better, more local source of lush, vibrant planting materials for both home gardeners as well as other landscapers, to provide a line of the newer, more unusual varieties not commonly seen in this area, as well as the steady winners proven to give your landscape the beauty it deserves.
They chose Sloatsburg, located in Rockland County, NY, but still close to Bergen County, NJ and Orange County, NY. The site itself had actually been a garden nursery some years before – Arden Hill Nursery – but they found the grounds in need of much restoration and repair. Terraces with massive stone walls were then built up across the back of the property. The various stock sections were then planned out. Irrigation was installed to keep the planting stock as fresh as the day it came in. The existing building got a new roof and other extensive renovations, both interior and exterior. And so much more, before they finally felt that their new nursery was ready to open. But of course, it is still a work in progress!
So, a brand new nursery, but still with many years of previous horticultural and landscaping knowledge and experience, able to recommend the right trees, perennials, annuals and everything else for your landscape, together with detailed growing and maintenance advice so that your purchase will continue to provide you with pleasure for many years to come.
So, let’s make Sloatsburg, Rockland, Orange and Bergen even more beautiful. Trees, flowers, shrubs — all in top condition, ready for planting. Mulch, gravel, rocks, beautiful Belgard Pavers, top of the line fire pit grills by Cowboy Cauldron and Breeo — all these and much more. Plus, expert horticultural advice to keep your garden flourishing and you happy. If you want us to put your purchases into your soil, we can do that, too! Come on over today!
